Brief History :

College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry came into existence on 11th January 2007 to strengthen the economy of the Baghelkhand region through animal husbandry. The sprawling campus with lush green pasture is spread over 167 acres of land, which is about 5 Km away from the heart of the Rewa city on the Rewa-Shahdol high-road. The College offers BVSc&A.H degree. It is maintaining Livestock farm complex which hosts dairy cattle, goat, pig, fodder and poultry units for the benefit of UG and PG students of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry Kuthuliya, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.

Mandate :
  • To demonstrate livestock production, management and fodder production techniques to under graduate students
  • To provide facilities for post – graduate students to carry out research work
  • To serve as multispecies instructional livestock and Poultry farm complex
  • To study the production and reproduction traits of different indigenous breeds of cattle of Madhya Pradesh

Dairy Unit:-

  • Breed : Murrah Buffaloes and Sahiwal Cows.
  • Strength Of Animals: 45.
  • Date Of Start: 03/02/2017 with 08 adult Murrah buffaloes and 07 adult Sahiwal cows.

Goat Unit:-

  • Breed : Sirohi.
  • Strength Of Animals: 24.
  • Date Of Start: 01/08/2015 with 20 adult female and 4 males.

Piggery Unit:-

  • Breed : Crossbred (Large white Yorkshire X Indigenous Desi Pigs).
  • Strength Of Animals:18.
  • Date of start: 01/08/2015 with 10 adult female and 2 males.

Poultry Unit:-

  • Breed : Kadaknath and Narmada Nidhi (strain).
  • No. Of Birds:Kadaknath-97 and Narmada Nidhi-99.
  • Date Of Start: 08/11/2016 withKadaknath-100 and Narmada Nidhi-100.

Fooder Unit:-

  • Establishment of fodder unit with establishment of College.
  • Cultivation of Arhar 8 acre.
  • Cultivation of wheat in 21acre.
  • Cultivation of fodder (Berseem, Maize, Cowpea, MPchari etc.) in 10 acre inside the farm.
Ransfer of Technology Activities :

Advisory / Consultancy:-

Queries were received from the farmers and suitable advises were sent to them by farm visits, by phone calls and through e-mail regarding problems on management, diseases control, cost minimization, profit maximization, project preparation etc., booklets on various animal husbandry practices were printed and distributed to the farmers.

Training:-

The training programmes conducted by the department of livestock Production and management according to the needs and wants of the farmers on pig and goat. These programmes are so designed that it is suited to the location, culture and knowledge level of the trainees. Each programme is organized with clearly stated objectives. The content of the training programmes may broadly be categories as follows:

  • Animal Production.
  • Animal Health.
  • Poultry Production.
