Brief History :

This department exist since inception and headed by Head of the department – Dr. Ali, Dr. D.V. Shilaskar, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Dr. Nitesh Kumar and presently by Dr. Neetu Rajput.

Objectives of the Department :
  • To provide thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology to the students by quality teaching.
  • To conduct scientific research with special emphasis on recent thrust areas to develop pharmacological and toxicological tools useful and applicable in science as well as for society.
  • Lab to land transfer of research knowledge by way of various extension activities eg. by forming an information cell, by conducting regular camp, audio-visual training programs for farmers as well as for veterinarians.

Thrust Areas of Research :
  • Pharmacokinetics: Pharmacokinetics and Safety evaluation of fourth generation fluoroquinolones,cepahalosporins and other recently introduced antibiotics.
  • Ethnopharmacology: To Evaluate the various Pharmacological activities of the medicinal plants available in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Toxicology: Pesticides/Insecticides and Drug induced toxicities in animals and their residue in meat and milk.
