Objectives Of The Department

  1. To impart the knowledge of surgery to B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc. & Ph.D. Students.

  4. To conduct the Diagnosis & surgical treatment of animals coming to VCC Mhow.

Research

Salient Achievements

    • Department was pioneer in using Xylazine and Ketamine Combination as General Anaesthatics in dogs since 2000.
    • Department has started use of Diazepam, Xylazine and Ketamine Combination for General Anesthesia in Horse.
    • Department has used Hadjod (Herb) extract for inducing fracture  healing.
    • Department has used several preparations to induce wound healing like Comupimet, Propolis in small and large animals.
    • Department has used Titanium pin, homologous serum and hydroxyl appatite crystals for repairing and inducing fracture healing.
    • Pain Management.

Extension Education

  • Department of surgery engaged in extension activities like visiting the surrounding village for surgical cases as and when required.
  • Department is also involved in the demonstration and introductory training to the farmers coming to visit VCC hospital from different districts of M. P. the members of the department also given counseling lectures related to the veterinary profession specially primary treatment of surgical cases and tried to develop awareness among the farmers in the field.
  • Members also visit Indore zoo in connection with treatment of wild animals.
  • Department also provided ASCAD Trainings of Field Veterinarians.
  • Recently organized 11 days online training for Field Veterinarians “Advances in Diagnosis and Management of ailments in pet animals” from 25/01/21 to 04/02/21.
