Brief History
The Department was started in January 2007. The undergraduate courses are being offered since July 2008. The postgraduate course has been started recently in September 2018.
Objectives of the Department
- Teaching: To impart quality teaching to undergraduate and post-graduate students and update them with latest development in the subject
- Research: To carry out research by keeping in view of farmers need.
- Extension: To provide regular necropsy and laboratory diagnostic facilities to farmers, wild life and other government bodies and suggesting measures to prevent and control of different diseases.
Thrust area of research

Extension education
The department is actively involved in extension activities like attending awareness / animal health camps, radio talks, publication of folders / pamphlets and popular articles related to farmers’ interest.
Conduct of post mortem, examination of samples for confirmation of the disease and suggesting prophylactic measures and treatment to control the diseases.
