Brief History
The College was established on 12th July 1955. Animal Genetics and Breeding was a part of curriculum of the B.V.Sc. & A.H. since inception of the degree course. But it was taught by the Department of Animal Husbandry. Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding was carved out of Department of Animal Husbandry and established as separate department in the year 1963. Post graduate programme is also going on in the discipline of Animal Breeding and Genetics since the establishment of the department.
Objectives of the Department:
Teaching, research and extension are main objectives of the department.- Imparting Education to UG, PG and PhD students in Animal Genetics and Breeding.
- Conducting basic and applied research in the field of Animal Genetics and Breeding.
- To dissipate the knowledge of breeding for improvement of livestock and poultry breeds of M.P. through different modes of extension.
Facilities Available
- Establishment of cytogenetics and molecular laboratory.
- ARIS cell had been established in the college with a view to assist the students and staff to access internet and update themselves with the latest developments in their area of specialization. There are 06 computers in the ARIS cell computer room. All these systems are provided with broad band internet through LAN. Students of the first year B.V.Sc. & A.H. class are taught the basics of computer Application.
- Laboratory for UG and PG students- having adequate number of microscopes, slides and various aids of demonstration are also available
