Brief History
Department has been started in the year 1995 under the Veterinary Council of India Act, 1984 to impart education to the undergraduates students of Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry. In order to generate human resource in Veterinary Public Health, the college has started post graduate study in 2012. Since inception, the department is continuously committed to educate students, field veterinarian and farmers regarding food borne and zoonotic diseases.
Objectives of the Department
- To impart and strengthen the undergraduate and postgraduate study regarding Food Hygiene, Zoonoses andEnvironmental Hygiene.
- To extend the technique / knowledge to field workers and farmers.
Thrust Areas of Research
- To ensure food safety in animal origin food products.
- Surveillance and monitoring of zoonotic diseases in and ạround Jabalpur.
- To investigate sanitary and physico- chemical quality of water.

Research
- 15M.V.Sc thesis and 01 Ph.D. thesis has been completed till date.
- Research work is going on food borne and zoonotic pathogens.
