At the time of establishment of the college in 1955 there was a joint Department of Pathology, Bacteriology and Parasitology. In 1964 an independent Department of Microbiology was created, which was elevated to postgraduate department in the year 1971. To date 54 students have completed their M.V.Sc. and 04 PhD degrees from this department.
