Teaching, research and extension are main objectives of the department.
- Under teaching object the subject of Gross Anatomy is taught to the students directly on the animal cadaver and its body components, for which sufficient number of specimens of skeleton, disarticulated bones, visceral organs and models and charts are available. Histology and embryology is demonstrated by slides, models, charts and embryos of different domestic animals preserved in the department.
- Under research object some sporadic departmental research is conducted as per the availability of material, while well planned research is conducted for PG and PhD students enrolled in the department of anatomy and histology. Well planned research on lymphoid organs of Kadaknath fowl and skeleton of wild animal is going on.
- Under extension activities demonstration of anatomy of body parts of different animals and their relation to physiological, production, management and disease point of view, is given to the farmers.
Facilities Available
- Osteology Lab Cum Museum- having skeletons of domestic and wild animals, loose bones and animal mummies
- Dissection Hall- having adequate number of dissection tables, Animal hoist system, Electrically operated animal / bone cutting machine, visceral organs of different domestic animals and birds preserved in formalin containing glass jars.
- Histology Lab- having Paraffin block/section making and histological staining assembly like Hot air oven, Microtome, Tissue floatation bath, Refrigerator, Digital weighing machine etc.
- LCD projector with screen- for the presentation of PPT and histological slides.
